Destroying Myths: Score more in Public Administration

Why I am writing this post! It is because, aspirants are always in the constant dilemma that Public Administration is not helping to them and other myths associated with it. There are many myths hanging around this subjects, so  I will try to bust some of this myths.
Myth 1: PA is not a scoring subject
You also might have thought that PA is not a scoring subject, so it is better to choose some other subject like sociology or other etc! This is not always true. Each year many aspirants got cleared who had chosen PA as their subject, may be they are not in top 10 or ranker. By seeing recent trend, one would say that PA is no more a scoring subject. It is just because that the toppers of this examination didn't opt for PA, they might have taken other subjects. By just observing some comments posted on internet or other media, you should not jump into conclusion that PA is not anymore a scoring subject rather you should be make this firm commitment to work smarter and sincerely. Don't get confused and never take the irrational decision before you understand the reality.
  • Getting good marks in examination, depends upon your commitment to work smarter and sincerely.
Myth 2: Vast syllabus
PA is a vast subject with tons of topics which might be alien to Science or Engineering background, so better change to other subjects. This myth is not always true. To remind you that in my previous post :why public administration as optional subject! , I have suggest you that, Paper-II of this subject is almost similar to Polity of GS. So preparing Paper-II is like reinforcing your Polity. So, You have to put your maximum labor on Paper-I.
  • Paper-I is the main focus and paper - II will reinforce your GS preparation.
Myth 3: Difficult theories to remember
There are about 10 thinkers like Marx, Weber, Parker etc, but they are not so difficult as one would think. These thinkers doesn't make up whole of the PA. It covers only a minor chunk of the syllabus. And you don't necessarily remember all of them as long as you understand the underlying principles of these thinkers. It is true that it is will impress the examiners if one mentions quotes  by various thinkers while writing your answers. But this is not necessarily true always. Here is why : You will have limited time and Space to write your answers. So you must utilize your time and space wisely. Better to write the points exact to the question asked. Beating around the bush wouldn't fetch you mark.
  • Though theories are a major portion of Paper-I, you can easily handle the paper if you have your concepts cleared. This is true for every subjects!
Myth 4: Lots of books to refer
This is the most common myth that new aspirants would have. But you need to refer my post : books to read. You don't need array of books, what you need is IGNOU material as your reference, then you can refer any of the books available on market. Buy only one or two according to your capacity and it it is not necessary to buy any of the books. IGNOU books will be enough I would suggest. But you have to practice with lots of previous year questions.
  • IGNOU material is the best and it is free!
Hope I have cleared a little doubt of yours. If you still have doubts, you can provide in the comment section below or you can email me at any time. I would try to clear you doubts as much as possible.
Trust yourself and be sincere to yourself!
